Why Support Boston Harbor Island Alliance?

Have you been to one of the Boston Harbor Islands?

If you have, you know that Boston has a treasure unlike any other city - an island park full of history, legend and natural beauty.

It wasn’t always this way. For decades, the city turned its back on the harbor and the islands, yet now they are being rediscovered, thanks in part to BHIA’s work in "Bringing the Islands to Life!"

"Bringing the Islands to Life!" is more than just our tagline - it perfectly describes the socially and environmentally aware programs we produce every year, which are only made possible through the generous contributions of our donors.

Interwoven in all programs is our strong commitment to preserve and protect the park for future generations - Our donors help to preserve the park’s civil war era forts, maintain beaches and wooded trails, and rehabilitate these amazing islands that belong to all of us.

We are building a new park

We have completed 30 million in infrastructure projects:

  • Peddocks Island Visitor Center, 2012
  • Boston Harbor Islands Pavilion on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, 2011
  • Georges Island Visitor Center, 2010
  • Spectacle Island Visitor Center, 2006
